America's well being is measured on the notorious "consumer confidence" scale. The higher the number the better of the country is. Really? Who that is exactly is difficult to determine considering that the only people that are gaining anything but weight are those profiteering from it. Everyone else just seems to be getting "fat" in an unhealthy way.
There's plenty of profit to be made from all that fat. First is selling you the stuff that makes you fat (and fatter) and then selling you stuff to lose all that extra fat before it kills you. Fast food joints, food and beverage manufacturers, big pharma diet pills, doctors and lap bands, and, for the die hards, gyms and yoga.
Why it's so difficult to figure that out remains a mystery.
