THE BANK OF JESUS CHRIST?

HALL OF SHAME: a failure to meet your own standards of behavior

THE BANK OF JESUS CHRIST?
Johann Wagener 3-1-13

“Then Jesus went into the Temple, threw out everyone who was selling and buying in the Temple,
and overturned the moneychangers' tables and the chairs of those who sold doves.”

So how does the Catholic Church explain having a bank in the House of God?

After a number of very embarrassing episodes in recent years, the Pope pledged to comply with international standards on illicit finance and clean up the bank’s image…often called “the most secret bank in the world.”

It’s a place where angels fear to tread; where criminals, frauds and mysterious corpses turn up as regularly as rats in the metro. The Institute for Works of Religion, commonly known as the Vatican bank, was set up in 1942 by Pope Pius XII to manage the vast Vatican finances. Often referred to as the world’s most secret bank, the operation is run by a CEO and overseen by five cardinals who report directly to the Pope.

MONKEY SEE - MONKEY DO

Following the Vatican’s example, “preachers” of all denominations began selling the “prosperity gospel” and profiting very nicely, thank you. What amazes me is that there are millions of people that actually buy into this “God is my ATM” version of the scriptures thought they won’t find anything written in the Big Book that supports it. I find that to be “stupid” rather than naïve. Somebody should shake these folks and remind them that they are in a church, not an AMWAY meeting!
