FOLLOW THE MONEY

Global Financial Crisis: A World in Debt

The tab is $7.6 trillion for the “big 7” which are the countries where wealth is accumulated western style. Where did all that money go?

You’ll find $5.4 trillion in the hands of a mere 1,426 people, just like you and I, who get up in the morning, brush their teeth, have a cup of coffee, and go about their day. And, just like the rest of us, they will one day become “dust” in the winds of time.

In the interim this handful of people has been able to game the system better than anyone before and, by the looks of it, don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.

The ranks of the world’s billionaires, as monitored and tallied by our global wealth team, have yet again reached all-time highs. The 2013 Forbes Billionaires list now boasts 1,426 names, with an aggregate net worth of $5.4 trillion, up from $4.6 trillion. We found 210 new ten-figure fortunes. Once again the U.S. leads the list with 442 billionaires, followed by Asia-Pacific (386), Europe (366), the Americas (129) and the Middle East & Africa (103).

Led by Japan’s $3 trillion and the U.S.’s $2.8 trillion, the amount coming due for the Group of Seven nations and Brazil, RussiaIndia and China is up from $7.4 trillion at this time last year, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

The question then is, why are the rest of us being asked to pay the tab on the $7.4 trillion while less than 1,500 people are hoarding $5.4 trillion? Somehow it doesn't seem fair. But then, we all learned back in grade school that “fair” is just a word. And, it looks like they were right.

SENIOR KILLING CENTERS

THE ASSYLUM: For the care of people, especially those with physical or mental impairments, who require organized supervision or assistance.

SENIOR KILLING CENTERS!

WTF!  Here’s the scenario. A woman living in a Gilmore Gardens “Senior Living” Facility is in distress. Someone on the staff who identifies themselves as a “nurse” calls 911. When the operator determines that the person needs CPR, and asks that it be performed, the nurse refuses stating it is “against company policy.” I need to repeat because I first could not believe what I heard. It’s “against company policy to administer CPR to someone in a life threatening situation?  She goes on to say that she is also prohibited from asking anyone else to assist. Is this America? Or are we living in a 1940’s version of Nazi Germany?

The conversation went like this;

"Is there anybody that's willing to help this lady and not let her die," dispatcher Tracey Halvorson says on a 911 tape released by the Bakersfield Fire Department. "Not at this time," said the nurse, who did not give her full name and said facility policy prevented her from giving the woman medical help. At the beginning of the call, on Tuesday, the nurse asked for paramedics to come and help the 87-year-old woman who had collapsed in the home's dining room and was barely breathing.

Ms Halvorson pleads for the nurse to perform CPR, and after several refusals she starts pleading for her to find a resident, or a gardener, or anyone not employed by the home to get on the phone, take her instructions and help the woman.

"Can we flag someone down in the street and get them to help this lady?" she says on the call. "Can we flag a stranger down? I bet a stranger would help her."

The woman was later declared dead at Mercy Southwest Hospital, officials said.

POPE IN VEGAS!

THE BANK OF JESUS CHRIST?

HALL OF SHAME: a failure to meet your own standards of behavior

THE BANK OF JESUS CHRIST?
Johann Wagener 3-1-13

“Then Jesus went into the Temple, threw out everyone who was selling and buying in the Temple,
and overturned the moneychangers' tables and the chairs of those who sold doves.”

So how does the Catholic Church explain having a bank in the House of God?

After a number of very embarrassing episodes in recent years, the Pope pledged to comply with international standards on illicit finance and clean up the bank’s image…often called “the most secret bank in the world.”

It’s a place where angels fear to tread; where criminals, frauds and mysterious corpses turn up as regularly as rats in the metro. The Institute for Works of Religion, commonly known as the Vatican bank, was set up in 1942 by Pope Pius XII to manage the vast Vatican finances. Often referred to as the world’s most secret bank, the operation is run by a CEO and overseen by five cardinals who report directly to the Pope.

MONKEY SEE - MONKEY DO

Following the Vatican’s example, “preachers” of all denominations began selling the “prosperity gospel” and profiting very nicely, thank you. What amazes me is that there are millions of people that actually buy into this “God is my ATM” version of the scriptures thought they won’t find anything written in the Big Book that supports it. I find that to be “stupid” rather than naïve. Somebody should shake these folks and remind them that they are in a church, not an AMWAY meeting!

SCORE ANOTHER ONE FOR MOTHER NATURE

Some of the most healthful foods you can think of — blueberries, cranberries, apples, almonds and squash — would never get to your plate without the help of insects. No insects, no pollination. No pollination, no fruit.

Farmers who grow these crops often rely on honeybees to do the job. But scientists are now reporting that honeybees, while convenient, are not necessarily the best pollinators.

Those in charge are again trying to rewrite history without giving credit where credit is due.
By omitting the Watergate Era of the Nixon presidency they ignore the most important and significant part of his presidency. What Nixon did was reveal the inner-workings of our political system which is far more corrupt than he was. He was just one small participant in the process which is still much alive long after Nixon has gone.
