A 302 document typically summarizes witness interviews with agents. The missing document is where Flynn allegedly lied to investigators, which led to his arrest.
“Where is the 302?” Trump tweeted late Thursday night. “It is missing. Was it stolen or destroyed? General Flynn is being persecuted!”
Trump ended the tweet with #Obamagate, which is a nickname given to the controversy surrounding the unmasking of Flynn and the Obama administration’s investigation into Russia’s involvement in the 2016 election.
Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., told Fox Business' Maria Bartiromo that the original 302 document was “missing.” Nunes said the document is where Flynn is accused of lying to investigators.
He remembers FBI sources saying, “Flynn wasn’t lying” back in 2017.
“So we knew this at the beginning of 2017, so you can imagine my astonishment when it began to leak out in the press that General Flynn was being busted for lying to the FBI,” he said on "Mornings with Maria." “And that, that’s what the Mueller team — the dirty Mueller team — that’s what they were going to bust him on.”
As for the report that shows whether Flynn was lying, he said it can be located.
“It’s gone. Poof. It’s out of — we can’t find it,” he said. “And I told people at the highest levels of the FBI and the DOJ, I said, 'What are you doing here?' Like, we have, on the record, from the highest-level people that he didn't lie to the FBI.”
Flynn’s attorneys requested every document related to interviews Flynn had with agents after reports emerged that the original reports were altered, Fox News reports.
