New details emerge on how UC Berkeley handled an 'inappropriate letter of support' from a regent |
Emails released late Friday by the California State Auditor's Office show that University of California Regent Richard Blum, who wrote what a recent state audit called an "inappropriate letter of support" to get an applicant admitted, sent the letter to current UC Berkeley Chancellor Carol Christ. The documents show that Berkeley's fundraising and admissions offices conferred during a key decision-making period for wait-listed applicants. UC officials have repeatedly said that donations do not influence admissions decisions. |
