During the Friday morning broadcast of NBC’s “Today,” national correspondent Miguel Almaguer reported some startling new information about what allegedly happened after police arrived at the Pelosis’ home.
“Sources familiar with what unfolded in the Pelosi residence” told NBC News, “After a ‘knock and announce,’ the front door was opened by Mr. Pelosi.
“The 82-year-old did not immediately declare an emergency or try to leave his home but instead began walking several feet back into the foyer toward the assailant and away from police. It’s unclear if the 82-year-old was already injured or what his mental state was, say sources.

“According to court documents, when the officer asked what was going on, [DePape] smiled and said, ‘Everything’s good.’ But instantaneously, a struggle ensued, as police clearly saw David DePape strike Paul Pelosi in the head with a hammer. After tackling the suspect, officers rushed to Mr. Pelosi, who was lying in a pool of blood.”
Almaguer told “Today” host Craig Melvin they still don’t know what went on during the 30 minutes Pelosi and DePape were alone inside the home before police arrived.
Then he stated the obvious: “Why Pelosi didn’t try to flee or tell responding officers he was in distress is unclear.”

Another Twitter whistleblower is considering taking the stand when Elon Musk faces the company in court over his $44 billion buyout deal later in two weeks — and he may have a few things to say about bots, The Post has learned.
Unlike Peiter “Mudge” Zatko — a Twitter whistleblower who did not mention the word “bots” or “spam” a single time during his two-and-a-half hour Congressional testimony in September — the potential second tipster would focus on an alleged internal study concluding that the site’s bot problem is much larger than Twitter has acknowledged.
The would-be whistleblower, a former Twitter employee, claims to have been involved in an internal report several years ago that supposedly concluded that at least 30% of Twitter’s daily active users are automated spam accounts.
“Twitter execs laughed when they were told about the report and said, ‘We have always had a bot problem,’” the potential whistleblower said in an interview with The Post.
His testimony could be a boon for Musk, who has made Twitter’s alleged bot problem a cornerstone of his legal argument for why he should be allowed to get out of his deal to buy the site.

Jan 6 Committee Just Gained an Unexpected Interviewee with Close Connection to the Supreme Court: Conservative activist Virginia Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, has agreed to participate in a voluntary interview with the House panel investigating the Jan. 6 incursion, her lawyer said Wednesday.
Attorney Mark Paoletta said Thomas is “eager to answer the committee’s questions to clear up any misconceptions about her work relating to the 2020 election.”
The committee has for months sought an interview with Thomas in an effort to know more about her role in trying to help former President Donald Trump overturn his election defeat.
Thomas’s willingness to testify comes as the committee is preparing to wrap up its work before the end of the year and is writing a final report laying out its findings about the U.S. Capitol incursion. The panel announced Wednesday that it will reconvene for a hearing on Sept. 28, likely the last in a series of hearings that began this summer.

Dem's 'Jan 6 Insurrection' Claims Blown Apart by Harvard Study - Obliterates Jan 6 Committee's Credibility: A new Harvard study throws cold water on characterizing the breaching of the Capitol by rioters on Jan. 6, 2021, as an “insurrection.”
According to the study conducted by the Harvard Kennedy School’s Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy, more than 40 percent of rioters were motivated by former President Donald Trump’s claims the 2020 presidential election was stolen from him, as well as a desire to see him re-elected.
According to The Harvard Crimson, researchers found that 20.6 percent of rioters were motivated by wanting to support Trump, while another 20.6 percent of rioters cited Trump’s election claims as the reason they stormed the U.S. Capitol more than 18 months ago in a bid to thwart certification of now-President Joe Biden’s election.
Less than 8 percent were motivated by a “desire to start a civil war or an armed revolution,” the Crimson reported.
The study has been released as a working paper because it has not yet been peer-reviewed, according to the Crimson. It is titled, “‘President Trump Is Calling Us to Fight’: What the Court Documents Reveal About the Motivations behind January 6 and Networked Incitement.”
It found a smattering of other causes as well, including “pursuit of historical significance” (7.43 percent), “protect the country or ‘take back'” the country” (5.76 percent), and even “Marxism, socialism, communism” (5.76 percent).
Study authors Joan Donovan, Kaylee Fagan and Frances E. Lee wrote that their analysis found the largest portion of defendants were “motivated, in part, to invade the U.S. Capitol Building by Donald Trump,” according to the Crimson.
Donovan is research director at the Shorenstein Center. Fagan is a Shorenstein research fellow. Lee is a professor of politics and acting chairwoman of the department of politics at Princeton University.
The report explained how the former president was able to persuade a number of his supporters that the country faced a catastrophe.

But not long after taking possession of her car, she was met with a major crisis unique to EV owners.
Siwinski told WTSP-TV in St. Petersburg she was excited when her parents bought her a used 2014 Ford Focus Electric from AutoNation Ford in Pinellas County. The car was like new with only 60,000 miles on it.
“It was fine at first,” she said. “I loved it so much. It was small and quiet and cute.”
But then, Siwinski said, “all of a sudden it just stopped working.”
Her dashboard started lighting up like a Christmas tree telling her that a major problem was detected.
After owning the vehicle for only six months, Siwinski was shocked that it needed service so soon. But her shock turned to outrage when she and her family took the car to AutoNation to see what was wrong.
The Siwinskis were told the battery pack was at the end of its life and needed to be replaced — and the bill was going to be $14,000.

Three More Bishops Hold the Line Against Pelosi, Ban Her from Receiving Communion: The San Francisco Democrat’s outspoken advocacy for the “right” of women to obtain an abortion has already gotten her barred from receiving Communion in the Archdiocese of San Francisco by Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone.
But three other bishops have also barred her from the sacrament in their dioceses as well, and bishops around the country are publicly supporting Cordileone’s action.
According to the Washington Post, the bishops of the Diocese of Santa Rosa, the Diocese of Arlington, Virginia, and the Diocese of Tyler, Texas, have all declared that the House speaker cannot receive Communion in their jurisdictions.
The Diocese of Santa Clara borders on the Archdiocese of San Francisco.
Santa Clara Bishop Robert Vasa made the decision to bar Pelosi from Communion on the same day Cordileone made his announcement public, the Post reported.
In a statement, according to Post, Vasa said the San Francisco archbishop’s decision applies to Pelosi as a member of his archdiocese, regardless of what church she might be attending.
According to the Catholic News Agency, Pelosi occasionally attends Mass at St. Helena Catholic Church in St. Helena, California, which is in the Santa Rosa Diocese.
“I have visited with the pastor at St Helena and informed him that if the Archbishop prohibited someone from receiving Holy Communion, then that restriction followed the person and that the pastor was not free to ignore it,” Vasa said in a statement, according to CNA

A transgender man became pregnant after a one-night stand on a gay dating app — and he says that the experience "felt like one of the most masculine things" he's ever done.

According to the Daily Mail, 28-year-old Ash Patrick Schade — a self-described minister of Satan, mental health worker, and Ph.D. student — became pregnant during his transition from a female to a male.
"I was going through a rough time from 2019 and 2020 and struggled with my mental health due to going through a divorce," Schade, who began his transition in 2018, said. "I ended up going on Grindr hookups and accidentally fell pregnant."
Schade — who was married to a man prior to the transition — was taking testosterone and estrogen blockers and became pregnant during a one-night stand on dating app Grindr.
"It had never occurred to me that I could get pregnant whilst on testosterone and estrogen blockers, as it's such a rare occurrence," Schade said according to the report.
