America's history is not good or bad, but a testimony to what America was and now is.
If you want to take down a federal statue or monument, be prepared to spend some time in prison — at least if President Donald Trump has anything to do with it.
In a tweet on Sunday morning, Trump implicitly threatened to invoke the Veterans’ Memorial Preservation Act if any more statue-topplers decide to rip down more monuments.
“No, Radical Left anarchists, agitators, looters or protesters will not be knocking down or harming the Washington Monument, the Lincoln or Jefferson Memorials, or just about any other Federal [Monument] or Statue,” Trump wrote.
Nancy Pelosi faces the wrath of social media after dismissive statement about mobs tearing down statues
'Encouraging lawlessness and mob rule'
What's with the scarf? Pelosi and the Biden?Obama Storm Troopers encouraging anarchy?
Critics of Pelosi circulated videos of her comments on social media.
"The House Speaker who runs the House of Representatives is encouraging mobs to tear down statues in our cities," said commentator Robby Starbuck.
"It's really telling that Nancy Pelosi can't or won't bring herself to condemn mobs tearing down statues in vigilante vandalism," said journalist Brad Columbo.
"This is a failure by @SpeakerPelosi. The destructive mobs vandalizing statues and destroying public property need to be condemned, not ignored. There is a legal, civil process for putting up and removing statues. That is what makes us a democracy, not a violent anarchy," replied Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.).
"The Left is encouraging lawlessness and mob rule. It's time these vandals are held accountable to the rule of law," responded the account for Young America's Foundation.
