IN THE LAND OF MAKE BELIEVE

HERO WORSHIP
Johann Wagener 10-11-13

It doesn't take much to be a hero these days. If there isn't one readily available Americans don't have a problem making one up. The best way is to write a book or make a movie and, in the process, twist reality to fit the "hero" profile.

Tom Hanks makes a great Captain Phillips because he's a great "actor" and his portrayal of Phillips is only make believe say the people who know him best; his crew. They claim that putting them in harms way to save a few bucks for the shipping company is not an act of bravery.

Bottom line, there's no hero here other than the make believe one that sells movies and books because Americans seem to prefer living in the land of make believe.
