Republicans, at the behest of those that profit from this twisted logic ( NRA and gun industry) continue to drill this message into the heads of Americans even as reality dictates the opposite is true;
The truth is that with more than 300 million guns on the streets of America, the body count continues to climb and Americans are not safer but in much more danger than ever. Schools, Malls, Theaters, Churches; all are targets of people with guns.
At this rate there will come a day when every home in America will become an arsenal. Every neighborhood an armed camp. Every stranger a threat. The body count will continue to grow along with the profits of those who created the nightmare Americans will be living.
Police in Kalamazoo, Mich., on Sunday apprehended an Uber driver they believe shot and killed six people and seriously wounded two others during a series of apparently random attacks that spanned four hours Saturday evening.
A total of eight people were shot in three locations Saturday as the gunman drove around shooting victims, Kalamazoo County Prosecutor Jeffrey Getting said.
Jason Dalton, 45, has no prior criminal record and was taken into custody without a struggle, Getting said.
"He was cooperative. ... He seemed pretty even-tempered," Getting said. "How do you go and tell the families of these victims they weren't targeted for any other reason than they were there to be a target?"
Uber released a statement late this morning confirming that Dalton was an Uber driver and said he had passed a background check.
