2014 NRA Poster Child

The NRA and their band of enthusiastic gun nuts will again try to make this most recent school shooting look like another one of the many isolated incidents involving a "loner" with a psychotic disorder.

This kind of crazy rhetoric sells in a country where the most popular cable "reality" show is Duck Dynasty that portrays life in America 2014; or at least that of many of the fans/viewers.

The gun nuts will say it's just a TV show; no harm done. It's not real. Just a show to entertain not depict reality  though we call it "reality" TV.

It's just a show about a bunch of fun-loving, tattooed and bearded, gun-toting all-Americans decked out in camouflage suits going out to kill ducks.

Really?

It seems that our 12 year old shooter (and possibly his family) might be taking a few clues from this hit show.

Here's the way a few of the shooters friends had to say;

"A kid saw him pull out the gun, but he warned him to be quiet or he'd shoot him too," said a 14-year-old classmate who has known the suspect for years and recalled how they often spent time together at the boy's house playing video games.

"He had access to guns," said the teen. "They were a gun family. They hunted."

Ellen Paiz, 13, was another witness. She shared a second-period language arts class with Nathaniel and the shooter.

"He was really smart," she said. "He talked a lot. He told a lot of jokes." Over Christmas, Ellen said, she ran into him at a convenience store.

 He was dressed in camouflage. "I told him, 'Nice outfit,' and he said, 'I'm getting ready to go duck hunting,'" she recalled. "I said, 'Have fun,' and he said, 'I will.' "

Of course none of this has anything to do with gun violence. It's all clean fun. Until the next time, and the next. The T-shirt worn by one of the adults at the school says it all.........................................
