MEET THE AMAZING PANGOLIN
Coronavirus: Pangolins may have spread the disease to humans
MEET THE AMAZING PANGOLIN
You might be asking yourself; why would this highly endangered (almost cute) creature be amazing?
Well.................................... This creature, along with ONE clueless human who devoured it, unwittingly brought the whole human race to it's knees in less than 30 days!
Not a shot was fired, no armies invaded, no nukes were launched. In fact all the most powerful military juggernauts the world has ever known were completely defenseless. The best plan they came up with was to "run and hide" HUNKER DOWN!
Now, tell me this is not AMAZING!
FYI;
There are many questions about the novel Coronavirus that remain unanswered, such as “how does the virus spread?” and “where did it originate?” Now, Chinese-based researchers say they think the pangolin — a scaly, otherwise harmless mammal that eats ants — may have spread the virus to humans.
Researchers point to the pangolin as a potential carrier of the novel coronavirus.

When coronaviruses spread to humans, it is usually via contact with an animal that carries the virus.
Medical News Today has recently published an extensive feature on the new virus, explaining that some of the most common carriers for coronaviruses are bats.
However, bats are unlikely to transmit the virus directly to humans, so, as with most similar viruses — such as SARS and MERS — an intermediary animal is usually the one responsible. For SARS, this was the civet cat, while dromedaries helped spread MERS.
When contacted by MNT a few days ago, The World Health Organization (WHO) said they did not yet know the specific source of the novel coronavirus.
“Researchers in China are studying this but have not yet identified a source,” they said at the time.
Only a few days later, researchers Shen Yongyi and Xiao Lihua of South China Agricultural University in Guangzhou announced in a press conference that they might have identified the pangolin as the source of the virus.
The announcement, “Pangolin is found as a potential intermediate host of new coronavirus in South China,” can be found on the university’s website.
Researchers had shown previously that the new coronavirus is most similar to two other bat viruses; in fact, its genomic similarity to these viruses is 88%, which led scientists to believe that bats carried the new virus.
Now, the two researchers used genomic sequencing to compare the DNA of the new coronavirus in humans with that in animals and found a 99% match with pangolins.
“This is an extremely interesting observation. Although we need to see more details, it does make sense as there are now some other data emerging that pangolins carry viruses that are closely related to 2019-nCoV,” Edward Holmes, an evolutionary virologist at the University of Sydney, Australia, told the prestigious journal Nature.
“This latest discovery will be of great significance for the prevention and control of the origin of the new coronavirus,” the Chinese university website states.
Liu Yahong, president of the South China Agricultural University, announced at the conference that they would publish the findings soon to help control the virus.
How could pangolins have spread the virus?
Pangolins — a relative of the armadillo and anteaters — are scaly mammals that feed on burrowing insects, such as termites and ants.
Pangolins are also an endangered species, and previous research has shown that the coronavirus is likely responsible for killing a large number of Malayan Pangolins.
In China, the country’s law protects the animals, and selling Pangolins can lead to 10 years in prison. However, the animal is a victim of illegal trafficking — in fact, researchers describe it as “the most poached and trafficked mammal in the world.”
The Chinese use the animal’s scales to treat conditions such as arthritis, menstrual pain, and skin conditions. People also sell the animal’s meat and consider it a delicacy.
In their efforts to track down the source of the new coronavirus, researchers have suggested that the infection originated at a seafood and wild animal market in Wuhan, China.
Although officially, this market did not sell pangolins, people may have sold the animals there illegally.

N.Y.C. Death Toll Hits 365 as Case Count Tops 23,000: A result of mismanagement and incompetence.
N.Y.C. Death Toll Hits 365 as Case Count Tops 23,000: Live Updates - The New York Times
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said Wednesday that the state was getting hit hardest in the United States because of their welcoming spirit rather than admit the increase is a result of gross incompetence by NYC Mayor DeBlasio
When Mayor de Blasio dragged aides and members of his NYPD security detail to his Brooklyn YMCA Monday morning amidst the coronavirus outbreak, fellow fitness enthusiasts were coughing and sneezing — and a mentally ill person was walking around touching the equipment, a gym source said.
“It’s crazy that he made his staff and detail come with him to the gym and expose them like that,” the source said.
But the incident is just one example of the mayor’s disregard for the health of his staff during the crisis, multiple sources told The Post.
There’s also growing frustration from senior aides, who fault the mayor for dithering instead of making decisions, micromanaging instead of leading, and insisting he knows best instead of listening to others, three sources said.
‘Thank god for Cuomo,’ is a common refrain among the mayor’s staff, made only partly in jest, sources said.
That’s because Gov. Andrew Cuomo has taken the lead on the city’s COVID-19 response — canceling the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, shutting down large venues including Broadway, and even pushing the mayor to close public schools.
But instead of the big picture, the head of the City that Never Sleeps has insisted on proofing all public materials about the city’s COVID-19 response from press releases to ad campaigns, one source said.
Cuomo noted that New York had 15 times the coronavirus cases of California and other states and offered his opinion about why that was the case.
“Because we welcome people from across the globe,” he said. “We have people coming here, we have people who came here from China, who came here from Italy, who came here from all across the globe.”
Cuomo said that he believed that the virus was in New York City long before people even knew it was a problem.
“I had no doubt that the virus was here much earlier than we even know,” he said. “And I have no doubt that the virus was here much earlier than it was in any other state, because those people come here first.”
New York currently has 30,811 cases, California has 2,644 cases, Washington state has 2,404 cases and Massachusetts has 1,159 cases.
Cuomo added that New Yorkers lived “close to one another,” which was another reason the virus spread more quickly.
He cited the close quarters in which New Yorkers lived in their communities, restaurants, movie theaters, public transportation, that, made New Yorkers more vulnerable.
But he said that the greatest weakness of New Yorkers was also their greatest strength.
“Our closeness is what makes us special,” he said, noting that New Yorkers were more open, accepting and tolerant than the rest of the world.
“The closeness is that New York humanity that I think exists nowhere else,” he said.

Bill de Blasio hits public gym, flouting coronavirus rules amid city shutdown

Hizzoner went to the Prospect Park YMCA, a rep said, noting that he arrived around 9 a.m. and left about an hour later.
The mayor’s continued gym-rat routine — which includes a 12-mile drive from Gracie Mansion to Park Slope with his NYPD detail — had some of his former staffers fuming.
The Mayor’s actions today are inexcusable and reckless,” tweeted Rebecca Katz, a longtime de Blasio confidante.
“She right. It’s pathetic. Self-involved. Inexcusable,” another longtime adviser to the mayor, Jonathan Rosen, chimed in on Twitter.
“He went to the f–king gym? Jesus!” said one shocked ex-staffer.
Another former City Hall employee told The Post, “Every New Yorker’s regular routine has been put on hold. His should be, too. Get to work. Set an example. This is embarrassing.”
A third ex-mayoral staffer added, “I’m offended … horrified.
“Didn’t the CDC recommend no gatherings of 50 people or more? … Will he be counting the amount of people there and leaving if it’s over 49?
“If we’re supposed to be social distancing, then what does that even mean if he gets to play by his own rules? Leaders are supposed to set by example. What kind of example does this set?” the former worker said.
“Also, why is he at the gym and not hunkered down 24/7 working on this? It’s a pandemic, and people are dying. Stunning.
“How many people have to die before he stops getting chauffeured to the gym is my question. What’s the appropriate number of deaths before he finds it uncouth,” the staffer continued.
Regular New Yorkers were appalled at the mayor’s gall.
“Resign @BilldeBlasio,” tweeted Andres Salomon, a safe streets advocate.
“I really, really cannot get over this,” wrote a user named Beth.
But today’s workout will be the last one — publicly, anyway — for the mayor as a higher authority has stepped in: Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
Cuomo has ordered all fitness facilities in the state to close by 8 p.m. Monday.
Asked about the mayor’s morning ritual, which came hours after he shut the city’s schools and ordered all restaurants and bars could operate for takeout only, Cuomo said only: “He can be in the gym this morning, you can be in the gym this afternoon, you can be in the gym this evening you just can’t be in the gym after 8 o’clock.”
He refused to comment on whether the mayor should have been at the public gymm. But Cuomo also noted that while he works out regularly he doesn’t use a public facility.
“Are you asking me if I go to a public gym?” he responded to a Post reporter during an Albany press conference Monday.
“No, I have my own workout routine that I have developed over a number of years that I do alone, so I don’t do it in a gym,” the governor said.
Cuomo aides confirmed their boss has a gym at home in the Governor’s Mansion.
Five city residents have died from the virus, and at least 329 have tested positive for the disease.
While the mayor made bars and restaurants to takeout-only and closed large venues, schools and senior centers, he waited for the governor to take action on shutting gyms.

Freddi Goldstein, the mayor’s press secretary, said the mayor has a strong emotional connection to the Y, which is located a few blocks from the Park Slope home where he raised his two kids with his wife, Chirlane McCray.
“The YMCA has been a huge part of his and his family’s life, like it has been for a lot of New Yorkers. It’s clear that’s about to change and before that, the mayor wanted to visit a place that keeps him grounded one last time,” Goldstein said.
“That doesn’t change the fact that he is working around the clock to ensure the safety of New Yorkers. After today, gyms will close and he will no longer be visiting the YMCA for the foreseeable future.”
WHY IS QUORA AND OTHER LEFT WING SOCIAL SITES HIDING JOE BIDEN?
Johann Wagener, PhD Psychology, California Coast University (1985)
This is a great question which I’m surprised squeaked by the Quora Moderators.
For the record I’ve posted at least a half dozen questions regarding Joe Biden inquiring about a range of things, including his mental status. The questions mysteriously disappear and are not posted. My inquiries to Quora are ignored. All these actions would indicate that anything regarding Joe Biden is being blacked out other than what appears to be highly controlled interviews at his residence and, even those are really shaky to put it mildly.
Making this person the standard bearer for the Democratic presidential slot is highly questionable; especially under these circumstances. My best quess is that the powers to be intend to somehow get him elected and then run the country with a shadow government; scary as it sounds, it would destroy this country.

Symptoms of COVID-19 (Coronavirus)
Symptoms of COVID-19 (Coronavirus)
March 10, 2020 -- As testing for COVID-19 expands, cases are being picked up across the U.S., confirming what disease experts have predicted: that the virus has been here for some time and is making people sick.
That can make the occasional cough or sneeze suspicious. Is this COVID-19? How would you know if you have it?
The most detailed breakdown of symptoms of the disease comes from a recent World Health Organization analysis of more than 55,000 confirmed cases in China. Here are the most common symptoms and the percentage of people who had them:
- Fever: 88%
- Dry cough: 68%
- Fatigue: 38%
- Coughing up sputum, or thick phlegm, from the lungs: 33%
- Shortness of breath: 19%
- Bone or joint pain: 15%
- Sore throat: 14%
- Headache: 14%
- Chills: 11%
- Nausea or vomiting: 5%
- Stuffy nose: 5%
- Diarrhea: 4%
- Coughing up blood: 1%
- Swollen eyes: 1%
COVID-19 is a lower respiratory tract infection, which means that most of the symptoms are felt in the chest and lungs. That’s different from colds that bring on an upper respiratory tract infection, where you get a runny nose and sinus congestion. Those symptoms seem to be mostly absent for people with COVID-19, though they’re not unheard of.
